Why you want to win this Kid Got Style giveaway

I was incredibly happy when I found out that I was having a little girl. I would have been just as happy to have a little boy. But once I knew Harley was coming, I worried about how I’d raise her to be a strong woman, not bogged down with gender stereotypes. One of the things I wanted to avoid was dressing her in pink. I don’t like pink myself, and I hate that girls are expected to wear it. I wanted Harley to wear awesomely funky clothes, things that I think she’d look back on and think were cool.

When I first started looking for such funky clothes, I really struggled. Everything seemed so cliched – such typical baby clothes all in pastels. I wanted unique designs that were still made on high quality clothes. So when I found Kid Got Style, I fell in love. My wallet begs for mercy every time I visit the site because I simply find far too many things that I can’t live without. Bibs and onesies – the site has become my go-to place for baby shower gifts, and of course I have to buy some things for Harley when I shop as well. Now, a lucky winner is going to get over R300 worth of stuff in this giveaway! Continue Reading

Schnooky Pie giveaway winner

I love giveaways. It’s just so great to be able to tell you all about something I like, and then for one of you to win. Cool things are great; winning those things for free is even better.

Last week, I told you about the awesome onesie I got from Schnooky Pie. Not only is the onesie really unique and fun, Schnooky Pie itself is a rad local company with a commitment to quality clothing that you won’t find anywhere else. They have a bunch of cool clothes and are helping employ local workers to make the handmade items, so it’s a win all around. Speaking of winning, it’s time to announce the winner of the giveaway! Did you win the Book Owl giveaway?

Book Owl giveaway winner

I was really exited to be able to run a giveaway for The Book Owl. As I explained, I love what Kirsten does – it’s amazing to receive customized books each month. It’s so much like a baby book Loot Crate, but even better because it is adapted to your kid’s age and interests. Such a cool idea, and I will definitely be subscribing to this service for many months and years to come. I particularly like that each book is individually wrapped; when Harley is a bit older, it will be great for her to experience so many books as presents to get excited about reading. Plus, I’ll have go-to presents for her throughout the month when I want to give her a reward or something on a bad day.

Thanks to everyone who entered my first giveaway. It was great to see such a response from all of you, and I loved all the books and stories you mentioned enjoying as a kid. I was such a book worm growing up, and I’m so amped to share that love of reading with Harley. You all reminded me of so many wonderful things to share with her. But enough about that, let’s announce the winner! Continue Reading

Why you want to win this Schnooky Pie giveaway

I love dressing Harley in all manner of adorable clothes. It’s one of those great joys of having a baby – they’re already so cute, but in little outfits they look even more adorable. But, not all outfits are created equal. I’ve already explain my reticence to put Harley in anything pink, and I really do prefer how she looks in the darker clothes; it just makes her look so quirky and I adore my little alternative baby. However, not all baby clothes were created equal.

Schnooky Pie is a proudly South African company, offering unique handmade outfits to discerning parents. That’s easy enough to say, but the onesie that I received for “review” (how do you review a onesie? cute 10/10?) has instantly become one of my favorite items in Harley’s wardrobe for a variety of reasons. And lucky for all of you, you can win it in this giveaway! Continue Reading

Why you want to win this Book Owl giveaway

Giveaway Book Owl

I think by now we all know that reading to our offspring is incredibly important. It boosts vocabulary and language skills, is important for bonding, and helps with literacy and education for life. I asked for books at Harley’s baby shower, and when people ask me what I want for her first birthday, I think I will ask for more books, or subscriptions with The Book Owl. That’s why I’m very happy to be able to giveaway one month of The Book Owl to a lucky reader.

I first heard about The Book Owl over on Pregnant in Cape Town & Ever After. It sounded like Loot Crate, but for books for little ones, which it pretty much is. Last week, I decided it was time for me to give it a whirl, so I signed up for a one month trial box. Kirsten, the genius behind this service, wrote to me to find out Harley’s name, interests, and which books we already have to avoid duplications. But there are so many more reasons to love The Book Owl. Continue Reading
