Did you win the Book Owl giveaway?

Book Owl giveaway winner

I was really exited to be able to run a giveaway for The Book Owl. As I explained, I love what Kirsten does – it’s amazing to receive customized books each month. It’s so much like a baby book Loot Crate, but even better because it is adapted to your kid’s age and interests. Such a cool idea, and I will definitely be subscribing to this service for many months and years to come. I particularly like that each book is individually wrapped; when Harley is a bit older, it will be great for her to experience so many books as presents to get excited about reading. Plus, I’ll have go-to presents for her throughout the month when I want to give her a reward or something on a bad day.

Thanks to everyone who entered my first giveaway. It was great to see such a response from all of you, and I loved all the books and stories you mentioned enjoying as a kid. I was such a book worm growing up, and I’m so amped to share that love of reading with Harley. You all reminded me of so many wonderful things to share with her. But enough about that, let’s announce the winner! Continue Reading

Why you want to win this Schnooky Pie giveaway

schnooky pie giveaway

I love dressing Harley in all manner of adorable clothes. It’s one of those great joys of having a baby – they’re already so cute, but in little outfits they look even more adorable. But, not all outfits are created equal. I’ve already explain my reticence to put Harley in anything pink, and I really do prefer how she looks in the darker clothes; it just makes her look so quirky and I adore my little alternative baby. However, not all baby clothes were created equal.

Schnooky Pie is a proudly South African company, offering unique handmade outfits to discerning parents. That’s easy enough to say, but the onesie that I received for “review” (how do you review a onesie? cute 10/10?) has instantly become one of my favorite items in Harley’s wardrobe for a variety of reasons. And lucky for all of you, you can win it in this giveaway! Continue Reading

How Harley has changed in three months

Today Harley turns three months old. It’s still a bit odd because I always have to adjust her age – she’s three months old, but considering how early she came, she should only be about a month old. That said, there are only really a couple milestones that are a bit delayed for my little preemie princess – otherwise, she is already on track for her actual age.

In only three months, my little girl has gone from a mere shadow of a baby to a real tiny human. She is growing so much every day, and I’m amazed at her development. Much like my own changes in the past three months, time has taken on a strange shape – it feels like both a long time and an instant. I can only imagine how another month or three or nine will change her even more. Continue Reading

How the first three months of motherhood have changed me

changed

Three months ago today was my last day as a non-mom. I didn’t know it at the time, but the next morning I woke up with seizures, had to have an emergency c-section and became a mom eight weeks early. A lot has changed in the past three months – physically, mentally… No, not a lot has changed, everything has changed.

It’s hard to believe it’s been three months; on the one hand it feels like forever, and on the other hand it feels like yesterday. Beyond the incredibly apparently changes in Harley, I’ve seen such changes in myself. So, with her birthday nearly upon us, these are the changes that I’ve seen in myself in the past three months. The Geeky Mommy Files – Cassey Toi

The Geeky Mommy Files

I love being a geeky mommy and figuring out what that means for me with Harley. It’s a daily journey as I try to learn how to be a mommy, and a geeky mommy at that. However, there are some awesome ladies who are further along on the path and have some really cool ideas that I’m totally going to steal. Welcome to the Geeky Mommy Files, where every Friday, I will be introducing you to one.

Cassey was one of the first women to reach out to me when I joined the mommy blogging scene, and I am so grateful that she found me. She never fails to offer me encouragement and advice – she’s quite possibly the most contagiously positive people I’ve ever met. Of course she’s an awesome mommy to her little boy, and a cool geek as well. Continue Reading
