Florence – This Mobile Game Rekindled Something in My Soul

Florence - This Mobile Game Rekindled Something in My Soul

In many ways, I feel very out of touch with the latest developments in gaming and tech. I know, I’m a bad geek/gamer. But life is too busy to read that same daily gaming news that I used to write myself. I do listen to a friend’s podcast, though – as I mentioned recently – which is how I heard about Florence.

Matty raved about it on the podcast a while back, and then Sandy tweeted about how great it was while traveling back from E3. For a couple bucks, I figured it was worth a shot. And now I want to add my voice to those raving about it, especially if you care about love, art, or things that set your soul on fire.

I wasn’t much of a podcast fan. In fact, I used to think they were pretty stupid – I just didn’t get the appeal of them because they either seemed useless or boring or just a pain to listen to. But around this time last year, I got into a couple of them, and I would listen during my drive to drop off and pick up Harley from school. Now, I drive even less each day, and yet I have a few podcasts I’ve been enjoying in 2018.

I mainly listen while I’m at the gym and in the car. While I’m doing my weight training, I’ll listen to a podcast, switching to music for my cardio so I can push the rhythm and stuff. I don’t drive much anymore, except when I go visit my mom when I have over an hour each way, which can easily clear any podcast backlog I might have built up. So here are the things I’m listening to now, and please feel free to share your favorite podcasts as well. Continue Reading

Top 5 Geeky Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Top 5 Geeky Father's Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day came and went, and now it’s time to prepare for Father’s Day. Dean keeps saying he doesn’t want anything for Father’s Day, gift and celebrations are apparently unnecessary. But I really want to get him something, and I think it’s important for Harley to see how nice it can be to celebrate other people and give other people nice things.

Just like I did for Mother’s Day, I figure this is a great opportunity to look for some fun Father’s Day gift ideas. Even if I can’t or don’t buy them this year, they might still be relevant next year. At the very least, I hope they help you figure out some things that you might like to give a geeky dad in your life. Disclaimer: Yes, these are affiliate links so I will get money if you use them to buy awesome stuff.  Continue Reading

Please buy me these awesome geeky gifts

Please buy me these awesome geeky gifts for Mother's Day

It’s coming up on Mother’s Day, which means I’m actually probably late for doing a shopping guide. All the organized bloggers probably did this months ago, with amazingly curated lists of beautiful items thanks to great brand collaborations and whatnot. However, I have barely had a moment to breathe thanks to hectic work deadlines and a little girl who has decided that she doesn’t want to go to sleep early or sleep in later than 5:45 am. I told the husband that he needs to make a big deal out of the Mother’s Day, though, and I promised that I’d give him a list of all the awesome geeky gifts that I’d like.

I mean sure, he could always just get me some Lindt chocolate – you know, the red ball thingies that melt in your mouth and are ridiculously delicious. But I figured I’d use this as an excuse to basically just window shop online. Besides, maybe I can make this list once and just retool it when it comes time for my birthday or some other special occasion that warrants a nice present. So, if you’re Dean, just read on below. If you’re anyone else, please be advised that there are affiliate links and stuff, so big disclaimer – I might make some money if you buy these cool things. And, without further ado, here are some ideas of what to buy other cool, quirky, geeky ladies who maybe like the same things I do. Continue Reading

5 Things I learned from a photoshoot with my 2-year-old

5 Things I learned from a photoshoot with my 2-year-old

I have been determined to get on my feet here in Arizona. In some ways, that’s meant setting up our home here, but in other ways, it’s been about getting our life going. Making friends is a process, much like reestablishing my blog here. It’s all about growing your tribe, finding people who are likeminded and slowly building a kinship. Which is why I was so excited to get accepted to the #CatchMeAtLuxe event which promised to bring bloggers and photographers together. But could I survive a photoshoot with my 2-year-old?

Harley is awesome and smart and hilarious, but she’s also still a toddler. I was terrified that she would be completely uncooperative and just say no the whole time. I was so worried that it would be more stress than it was worth. Then there was the thing where I was terrified that I’d look fat beyond belief. Oh, and do I even need to mention the fact that all the other moms attending the event had WAY bigger Instagram followings than me? Cue all the imposter syndrome as well. But actually, it was a wonderful experience, and I learned a lot! Continue Reading
