An Easy Guide to Setting Up a Budget on Google Docs

An Easy Guide to Setting Up a Budget on Google Docs

I don’t normally like to talk about money. I don’t claim to be some kind of financial guru or to have all the answers to get people out of debt or whatnot. There are plenty of other blogs and sites that can help with that. But, I am pretty good with money, and I thought I’d share something that has made our lives way easier. Dean and I have a budget on Google and it is a lifesaver.

Back in South Africa, Dean was paid a consistent income every month on the 25th. It ran like clockwork. Then we would logon to our internet banking and pay all the bills we paid manually, and a couple days later all the debit orders would come off and we’d see how much money we had left for the month as my income was usually paid on a more irregular basis. It was simple and worked for us. But now, with both of us working as freelancers or contractors or whatever you want to call it, the funds vary a lot more from one month to the next, and it can be hard to keep track of it all. That’s why we have a budget sheet on Google. Continue Reading

Everyone needs a robot vacuum – An Ecovacs Deebot review

An Ecovacs Deebot review

I’ve told you before about how I’ve changed the way I see time. Every moment that I have is valuable, even if I choose to use it to binge on Netflix series or relax outside with my husband drinking a glass of wine. Thanks to working per hour as a freelance writer, I am much more aware of how valuable my time is, and I appreciate time-saving hacks or tech. Which is why I wanted to share my Ecovacs Deebot review and why I think that everyone needs a robot vacuum.

In the interest of full disclosure, yes, I will be using affiliate links in this post in the hopes that you click on them and buy yourself a robot vacuum. I bought this one with my own money, and I’m not being paid by anyone to write this review, so it’s all totally honest. But I like this thing far too much, I think you will too, and I’d like to earn some extra cash if my words help you decide that this is the vacuum for you. Continue Reading

PaMu earbuds combine form and function

PaMu earbuds

I would like to think that I’m an audiophile, but the reality is that I’m really not. I didn’t care when I heard the news that Apple was removing the headphone jack from their phones. I don’t listen to music while I work. I have a fabulous SteelSeries headset that I use at my PC, and a great pair of Sony headphones to use when I’m traveling, and I figured I was sorted. But then these PaMu earbuds came into my life, and I’m better for them.

I’ve reviewed all kinds of headsets and devices before over on Critical Hit, but I wasn’t really sure how I’d feel about the PaMu earbuds. Still, they promised that they’d provide excellent sound, and even more importantly, never fall out no matter what I did. I’d long since given up on finding a headset or earbuds I could take with me to the gym, so maybe this was finally the answer. What did I have to lose? Continue Reading

SNAPnSAVE will save you money no matter where you shop

snapnsave

Babies are expensive. Actually, no, the baby themselves aren’t expensive – there are easy ways to keep your baby clean, fed and safe without spending a fortune. The expenses come for all the things you want to do with your child, you know, like educate them or take them to swimming classes (something I’ve started and will be blogging about soon!). Times are tight, and whether you have kids or not, we can all benefit from saving money. Recently, I wrote about SNAPnSAVE on Tums2Tots, and I just have to share why it’s so cool.

You can read about how the app actually works in my article, but the main thing I’m impressed by is that you can shop pretty much anywhere. Do you typically buy a pie at the petrol station? Or your milk at Spar vs PicknPay? No problem, SNAPnSAVE is still rad for you. It’s more about the products you buy rather than where you buy them. Continue Reading
